Taylor Farms Cyclospora Recall: The Story So Far

Questions continue to surface about the Taylor Farms Cyclospora recall, and the most dependable answers are still available directly from Taylor Farms. The company updates its Cyclospora Information Hub whenever new details emerge, while its Recall Page reflects any product recalls that remain active.

Instead of revisiting the headlines, the timeline published by Taylor Farms provides a clearer look at how events developed.

How the Taylor Farms Recall Developed

July 15, 2026 : Taylor Farms first received traceback and epidemiological information from the FDA and CDC indicating that certain batches of iceberg lettuce from central Mexico could be associated with a Cyclospora cluster found across five states. Taylor Farms states in its Cyclospora Information Hub that it spoke that same day with the FDA, CDC, and Michigan health officials to question the scientific basis, data, and methods being used.

July 16, 2026 : Discussions about those concerns continued with government representatives, including officials from the FDA, HHS, and the White House. On the same day, Taylor Farms decided to issue a voluntary recall that went beyond the particular lots identified by the FDA. The company recalled all iceberg lettuce sourced from and processed at its central Mexico facility, describing the broader action as being taken "out of an abundance of caution." Customers began receiving recall notifications that day.

July 17, 2026 : Taylor Farms announced the voluntary recall publicly and began its own internal investigation. This is the date most frequently referenced as the beginning of the Taylor Farms Cyclospora recall.

July 18, 2026 : The FDA notified Taylor Farms that an initial sample of lettuce from the company's central Mexico operations had produced a "confirmed positive" test result. The Hub states that the product in question had already been held for testing and never entered distribution. Other products belonging to the same lot had also already been included in the recall.

As an additional precaution, Taylor Farms halted all production at its central Mexico facility that same day.

July 19, 2026 : Independent third-party specialists were dispatched to the central Mexico facility to conduct a comprehensive assessment of its food safety procedures. Taylor Farms also says the FDA notified the company that the test result reported the previous day as positive was actually a false positive.

The Current Status of the Recall

More recent testing information has since been added to the Cyclospora Information Hub. According to the FDA, there were no confirmed positive Cyclospora product test results as of August 27, 2026. Taylor Farms also reports that approximately 2,000 samples it collected in central Mexico beginning in May produced no positive findings.

For the rest of the growing season, Taylor Farms has stopped sourcing iceberg lettuce from central Mexico. Its leafy greens are now being supplied from the United States and Canada. The company says it spends more than $200 million each year on independently audited and verified food safety procedures.

Taylor Farms says any future decision to resume sourcing from central Mexico will depend on results from the continuing third-party assessment and the FDA's investigation.

Consumers trying to determine whether a particular item falls under the recall should note that it is limited to iceberg lettuce connected to the central Mexico facility and was distributed mainly through foodservice channels. According to the Hub, the only retail products affected were a limited number of Marketside-brand items sold through Walmart. Those products have already been taken off store shelves. Products that do not carry a "Product of Mexico" label were not included in the recall.

Another Recall Unrelated to Cyclospora

Taylor Farms' Hub also points to a different and more recent recall involving jalapeƱos supplied by the third-party company Coast Citrus Distributors. This recall is separate from the Cyclospora issue.

Updated information about the jalapeƱo recall, as well as details concerning any other current recalls, is maintained on the Taylor Farms Recall Page.

How to Find the Most Current Updates

Since the situation remains active and can change, Taylor Farms' own resources continue to provide the most current information:

  • Cyclospora Information Hub : includes statements, frequently asked questions, testing information, and food safety commitments related specifically to this outbreak.
  • Recall Page : provides updated information about active recalls, including complete lists of affected products, states, and use-by dates.

Taylor Farms advises anyone who believes they have a recalled product to throw it away. The company also states that refunds can be obtained from the place where the item was purchased.

People who experience symptoms of illness are encouraged to contact their physician. Additional contact information and guidance are available through the Cyclospora Information Hub.
